Taking on a self build project for the first time can be a daunting task. But for one man in Larbert, Scotland, one house just wasn’t enough.
The project owner, Vincent McGuire, bought a 0.2 acre plot of land with a vision to build two detached, three storey properties, one for him and one to be sold as an investment opportunity.
Vincent was a complete novice when it came to construction and had no prior experience in project management. To make sure everything ran smoothly, he commissioned a local builder to lead the development, who suggested that he get in touch with the Self Build Consultation Service at the local Jewson branch.
Each and every self build project is unique and requires tailored support and advice. The Jewson Self Build Consultation Service was able to review Vincent’s build plans and give personalised guidance on which materials would fit the brief best and the solutions that would make sure he stayed within budget.
The Jewson team introduced Vincent to a number of local, trusted tradespeople to support the build, and also advised on sourcing materials from specialist suppliers.
All the work was completed on schedule, just 18 months after the project had begun. Vincent is now searching for the next plot of land to develop – it seems he’s got the building bug!
