We have been helping out in the recent flooding that caused havoc across the country. With a high demand for sand bags and with councils running out of the materials needed to prevent further damage, Justina a volunteer at the Nuneaton Wildlife Sanctuary asked our Bedworth branch for materials and the team immediately stepped in to help.
The Wildlife Sanctuary rescues sick, injured, abandoned birds and animals using only donations. The Sanctuary was struggling to keep animals on the low ground protected, as they were vulnerable to inevitable danger from the flooding.
Simon Procter, our branch manager at the Bedworth Branch kindly donated 10x 25kg bags of sand, which were collected by the Sanctuary on Thursday 13th February. He commented: “We saw this donation as a great way of helping a worthy cause, the flooding has been a nightmare for a lot of people and you can feel so helpless when there are animals involved.”
As a local partner we always like to get involved with community projects like this, we recognise the importance in engaging with local people and giving something back. Simon was extremely happy to help Justina and her team out.
Justina and the rest of the team at the Sanctuary commented: “We are so grateful for the donation from Jewson, we appreciate the help it has given us in keeping the Sanctuary protected in the weather, and most importantly keeping the animals safe.”
