TogetherStronger: Jewson and Band of Builders Join Forces

National builders’ merchant, Jewson, has announced Band of Builders, as their official charity partner. This partnership will ensure even more tradespeople impacted by illness or injury get the help they need. The collaboration means Jewson will be supporting the construction charity as it continues its vital work through hands-on projects and by offering advice and support to the trade.

National construction charity, Band of Builders’, story began in 2016 with Keith Ellick, a builder who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The trade community came together to help renovate his home and landscape his garden, with tradespeople coming from across the country to lend a hand. Ever since, the charity has gone from strength to strength. In total it has completed 17 projects across the country, involving over 300 volunteers and donated building materials worth almost £400,000, with number 18 on the horizon.

The support of Jewson will help Band of Builders reach even more members of the construction community, with Jewson also helping provide volunteers for projects and organising their own fundraising activities.

Commenting on the news, Neil Lawrence, Chief Operating Officer at Jewson said: “The work that Band of Builders does, and the lives they change, is nothing short of remarkable. We’re very proud to be able to support such a worthy cause that is so close to our and the whole industry’s hearts.

“At Jewson, we’re proud to support tradespeople in any way we can, so the partnership with Band of Builders is a great addition to our efforts in helping the trade, especially at a time when they need us most. The whole Jewson team is really excited to be involved with this partnership. Everyone will have the opportunity to get involved in fundraising and they will be able to volunteer on upcoming projects. We’re hoping this will bring our team even closer and support our focus on their wellbeing.”

Jewson will be supporting Band of Builders in development of a regional structure, with the aim of delivering at least one project per region across the year. Next up is ‘Rob’s Project’ in Solihull which begins in March. The Band of Builders team will be carrying out accessibility adaptions to Robs home after he was left paralysed from a spinal cord injury of which Jewson will be supporting.

Gavin Crane, Trustee and Board Member at Band of Builders, added: “Jewson has been a much appreciated, longstanding supporter of our projects across the country, but we are thrilled to have taken this to the next level by being named their official charity partner. Our motto is TogetherStronger, and this is exactly what our partnership with Jewson symbolises. Together we will be able to help even more people affected by illness or injury and really make a difference to their lives.”

Band of Builders also offers a hardship fund which provides financial support to tradespeople affected by the COVID pandemic.
