Halifax branch supports CityCross Race

CityCross is known for its demanding and exhilarating routes and the Morvélo CityCross 2, was no exception. Our local Halifax branch, donated 12 tonnes of sand to be used to create sand traps around the course, adding an extra dimension to the race. Combining mud, steps, ramps, smoke, and even bridges, the competing cyclocross and mountain bikers were thrown into the ultimate urban battle!

Jewson Branch Manager, Richard Scott commented: “The unique setting of the Grade I listed building – Piece Hall in central Halifax, provided the perfect, dramatic backdrop to this thrilling race.  For the town of Halifax and West Yorkshire, this is particularly exciting and a great opportunity to show off our beautiful surroundings, so we were pleased to lend our support to make the manmade obstacles as difficult as possible!”

The concept behind CityCross is to create racing for all abilities in a city environment, testing the skill and speed of riders, as well as welcoming newcomers to bike racing.  The fun event draws many people together in new cities, streets and deserted  areas of land to encourage everyone to enjoy the thrill of racing bikes.
