There are big plans to regenerate mighty Blackpool, meaning skilled construction workers are needed to complete all the work. To help train them, we’ve donated £1000 worth of materials to Blackpool and The Fylde College, in Lancashire, as part of what’s called the Build Up initiative.
It’s a fantastic initiative that aims to train unemployed adults in construction and one we’re happy to support. We’ve supplied a range of materials including transition and drop kerbing, quadrants and paving for assembling road traffic islands, meaning students can tackle this particular type of construction work.
“We are so grateful to Jewson for donating these materials” commented Roberta Austin, Build Up Centre Manager. “Our students have already made use of them during practical sessions. These skills are in demand locally so this is actually helping people to go out and find work in the construction trade.”
