When a trade hero comes along…

Since we launched Building Better Communities four years ago, we’ve helped 65 projects, including Farms For City Children and the Band of Builders, make a real difference in their local area. Now, 69 more projects are looking for your support to help them secure a share of the 2018 prize fund.

The finalists in the running for the Trade Hero Award were nominated for their dedication to supporting local projects or, following a change in life circumstances, now need a helping hand themselves. They are: Steve Dixon, site engineering surveyor; Aaron Pearson, plasterer; Stephen Keenen, co-founder and director of Happy Days Building and Roofing Company; John Simkins, builder and David Lloyd, floor layer.

This year’s shortlisted finalists also include 47 community projects and charities, as well as 17 sports clubs. Ranging from homeless shelters and junior football teams, to primary schools and bowling groups, they now need your votes to help win a share of £250,000 in building materials.

Click here for a full list of finalists and to vote for your winning entry. But be quick, voting closes on Wednesday 20th June!

We’ll be awarding one project up to £50,000, with many smaller grants for others, and giving away £100,000 of the fund to deserving tradespeople. Prizes will be allocated based on results of the public vote, as well as recommendations from an industry judging panel.
