Our own efforts and achievements in raising money for our charity partners has inspired Cairn Housing Association – a Jewson customer – based in Inverness to arrange its own Tour de Cairn, after a number of its colleagues took part in a 180 mile section of the Tour de Jewson cycle last year.
Cairn Housing Association is split into a North and South division and decided to divide the event into two teams: the Northern team travelled from Thurso and Wick down to Inverness and the Southern team cycled around Edinburgh and out to Rosyth. For the final leg of the journey, the teams met up in Dornoch and cycled the last 49 miles to Cairn House together.
The event was a real success and with the help of tenants and staff they managed to raise over £1000 for their chosen charity; the Highland Hospice.
Craig McPherson, our Inverness Branch Manager, joined the Northern team on the final day of the cycle and said: “After being inspired by Jewson’s dedication to Macmillan, the Housing Association decided to embark on a similar fundraising activity. They recognised that they had the capability to bring staff, customers and suppliers together to raise vital funds for an important cause, as we aim to do with our own Together Charity Programme.
“Tour de Cairn was a fun couple of days and I hope everyone who took part enjoyed it as much I did!”
