At Jewson, we’re proud to support our charity partners – Band of Builders and Barnardo’s – with ongoing fundraising and support from our branches up and down the country.

Band of Builders
Band of Builders is a construction charity that started from one man’s desire to help his friend in his hour of need – growing from small beginnings to a nationwide charity run by tradespeople, for tradespeople.
The Band of Builders story started in 2016, when Keith Ellick was diagnosed with terminal cancer and his close friend Addam Smith started the first ever project to support him. The trade community came together to help renovate Keith’s home and landscape his garden, with tradespeople coming from across the country to lend a hand.
Since then, the charity has gone from strength to strength. In total, Band of Builders has completed 17 projects across the country, involving over 300 volunteers and donated building materials worth almost £400,000. It aims to help members of the construction industry when times get tough, whether that’s through hands-on projects, advice and support, or just the sense of community that has grown through the simple act of wearing a BoB t-shirt or hoodie.
As an official charity partner of Jewson, our support will help Band of Builders reach even more members of the construction community, as our colleagues get involved in volunteering for projects, as well as organising their own fundraising activities.

Barnardo’s
Barnardo’s works to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and every year helps thousands of families to build a better future.
In 1867, Thomas Barnardo set up a ‘ragged school’ to help disadvantaged children, and the charity has come a long way since then.
Last year more than 358,000 children, young people, parents and carers were supported by Barnardo’s through more than 800 services across the UK, such as young carers, care leavers, foster carers and adoptive parents, training and skills or parenting classes.
Our charity partnership with Barnardo’s helps young care leavers gain valuable construction and life skills and connects them with Saint-Gobain customers for potential employment opportunities. Jewson will also be helping develop high-quality ‘Gap Homes’ to help young care leavers transition to independent living.
