Nominations closed, time to vote

Nominations for our Building Better Communities campaign have now closed, and we can reveal the shortlist of projects in with a chance of winning a share of the £100,000 prize fund.

The response has been incredible, with over 2,000 projects of all shapes and sizes nominated. Whittling these down to our final shortlist was extremely tough. Last week a team of over 60 industry experts undertook the challenge to judge all the projects against the same criteria.

Judging considered the legacy of the project, the impact it would have within its locality, the sustainable building products mentioned, or that could be used, the strength of application and the projects proximity to a Jewson branch. 1979230_815493521820307_7756618780492760686_o

The final 63 projects which will progress to the next stage of the competition share an ambition to make a little corner of their community better and create a sustainable legacy to be enjoyed for years to come.

We were overwhelmed by the response for the competition and will be considering what we do in the future with communities based on what you told us. Like Jewson on Facebook to receive regular updates and support those in your local area who have made it through to the next stage.

The shortlist can be viewed here Building Better Communities Shortlist or in detail at www.buildingbettercommunities.co.uk

Your votes count

If there’s a project that means something to you, it needs your vote. It may be there’s one in your local area or close to someone you know, or maybe an ambitious vision has caught your imagination and deserves your support.

Whatever the reason, you can help make these ideas a reality.

Visit https://www.facebook.com/jewsonuk  or www.buildingbettercommunities.co.uk  and get behind the project of your choice. Then share it with as many people as you can to drum up even more support.

With the top prize of £50,000 to help pay for both materials and labour, and smaller prizes of between £1,000 and £5,000 to cover the cost of building materials, your support can make a real difference.
