Jewson and Jewson Partnership Solutions (JPS) have a joint mission to make the world a better home. That means adapting Jewson branches to ensure they’re low carbon and working with customers to make sure everyone has access to the most sustainable products via the Making Better Homes range. But we’re always looking for other ways to improve our operations.
Drum roll please, as we tell you all about our latest joint venture – Jewson and JPS’ first electric van.
The idea to introduce the group’s first electric van came about when JPS renewed its contract with Bristol City Council. We have a lot of shared values when it comes to sustainability and the council’s decision to opt for a delivery model rather than collection tied in perfectly with our plans to decrease our carbon footprint.
The unveiling at our Jewson branch was a pretty quiet affair. Not because the team weren’t excited but because opting for an electric model helps cut noise pollution while offering a better driving experience. But the biggest benefit is the reduced impact on the environment. The van has zero tailpipe emissions, making it greener, cleaner and better for the world around it than petrol or diesel models.
Fleet Transport Manager, Darren O’Donnell, said: “This is a huge milestone for Jewson and JPS. This van is going to make a big difference to the Bristol branch and we’re going to be looking at how we could introduce more electric light commercial vehicles across our whole fleet. The construction industry has a lot of work to do to get cleaner and greener and we’re committed to making changes that will help.”
