Our Stafford branch has recently donated a selection of tools including brick and pointing trowels, as well as toolboxes to reward the hardworking, dedicated construction students at Stafford College.
Lloyd Norman, Area Customer Services Manager at Jewson, commented: “The college rewards its students achieving excellence in their studies at the end of each academic term. As such, we thought this was a brilliant opportunity to provide the college with tools and toolboxes that could be presented to those high achieving students – which will also come in handy for them!”
A couple of the toolboxes were presented to Stafford College’s third year bricklayers who were entered into the Skillbuild Regional 2014 competition. Thanks to his excellent bricklaying skills, James Callagher won first prize in the senior event and will now compete in the Skillbuild National Final, which is to be held at the Skills Show on the 13th-15th November at the NEC Halls. Well done James!
Kevin Ellement Lecturer at Stafford College commented: “I’d like to thank Jewson on behalf of the college and our students for the generous contribution of tools and toolboxes – they’re very much appreciated and used a lot by our students.
“I’d also just like to congratulate James for his fantastic job at the Skillbuild Regional 2014 competition, he built with confidence and finished well before time. A proud moment for our college.”
Lloyd concluded: “It’s great to get involved with the local community, especially colleges as they’re training our trade specialists of the future and, they could also possibly even be Jewson’s future customers!”
