But, there are a lot of things to consider before you get work underway, and you’ll need to be prepped to answer all of your customer’s questions!
For those questions around roof windows, we’ve been speaking to our friends at VELUX® about the latest products they’ve got on offer to help you win that extension or loft conversion business.
Now, one of the issues your customer may have is how to tackle roof windows that are out of reach (unless you’re as tall as Peter Crouch). That’s where the very clever VELUX INTEGRA® electric and solar roof windows come in. These roof windows can be opened and closed at the touch of a button, the same goes for any VELUX® solar or electric blinds and shutters that are also fitted to the roof window.
Rain, rain go away
We all know the British weather isn’t the most predictable. One minute it’s glorious sunshine, birds singing, the next it’s like something out of a disaster film with rain pouring down. VELUX INTEGRA® roof windows are fitted with rain sensor technology which means they automatically close as soon as rain is detected. Handy. And don’t worry if your customer already has manual VELUX roof windows, they can be upgraded to VELUX INTEGRA® solar powered windows with an easy to install conversion kit, so there’s no need to go out and replace the whole lot.
A little oasis
Those clever people over at VELUX haven’t stopped there when it comes to tech. How about being able to offer your customer their very own climate control as part of their set up? Well say hello to VELUX ACTIVE!
When this package is fitted with VELUX INTEGRA® roof windows, it monitors the temperature, humidity and CO2 levels in the room, and will open and close the roof windows to regulate the climate, based on your customer’s personal preferences. The package is made up of three components; an Indoor Climate Sensor, the Departure Switch and the Gateway.
The Indoor Climate Sensor measures the air quality of the room and reacts to the data it collects by opening or closing the windows. It can operate a group of VELUX INTEGRA® windows at the same time, but one needs to be installed in each room where the windows are fitted.
Safety first
We all know there’s nothing worse than heading out for the day then wondering whether you left a window open. With the VELUX Departure Switch you can offer your customer peace of mind. It just needs to be placed by the front door or at any exit point, and secures the windows to ‘safe mode’ when the house is empty – either by closing fully or leaving the windows slightly open if the air quality needs any adjustment. It is also available as a feature on the VELUX ACTIVE app, where your customer can access their home’s climate data and open or close their windows no matter where they are!
Connect four
You’re probably getting the feeling that the team at VELUX have thought of everything, so of course there’s also a nifty bit of kit which connects all of this together – and it’s called the Gateway.
It’s important to fit the Gateway in a place with a good Wi-Fi connection, so that it can receive information from the Sensor and send it to your customer’s VELUX INTEGRA® roof windows.
