On the back of our multi-year partnership with the EFL, Jewson is also teaming up with #HerGameToo, the organisation run by female football fans which helps fight against sexism in football.
As part of this, we’re now on the hunt to find 72 local girls’ teams across the UK that Jewson can sponsor, and provide new kits and equipment for ahead of the next season.
Former England and Aston Villa star, Anita Asante, has helped us launch this Grassroots initiative, along with other representatives from #HerGameToo.
Anita said: “It’s great to see Jewson using their EFL partnership to widen exposure to the game and make it more accessible to girls around the country. Awareness and interest are definitely higher than ever before in terms of girls getting into the game. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always translate to funding, and it’s hard to start teams and get things moving if you can’t afford kit.
“Having 72 teams around the country with brand new kit thanks to Jewson is going to be fantastic”
Anita’s views were echoed by Jewson Marketing Director, Gareth Drew. He said: “We are now seeing a more diverse trade sector than ever before and a lot of our customers have links to girls’ Grassroots football; whether it is people attending matches or getting into playing the game themselves.
“We will be hugely proud to have a nationwide network of teams bearing the Jewson name, and even prouder that this will give vital exposure to #HerGameToo and the brilliant work they do in terms of making the world of football safe and respectful for woman.”
