Thanks to the help of our suppliers, we have raised £5,900 for our charity partner Barnardo’s with our ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign! This latest amount will be added to the staggering £320,000 that Jewson employees, suppliers and customers have helped raise since May 2011.
Our Buy a Brick campaign gave suppliers the chance to buy a brick at a minimum cost of £100 with their logo on it, which formed part of a brick wall display at our head office in Coventry. InPrint, one of our print suppliers, produced the wall and bricks for us free of charge.
Peter Stringer, Managing Director commented: “We would like to thank everyone that supported our ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign. Jewson employees, customers and suppliers have done a fantastic job helping to raise over £320,000, but there is still more we can do, so we are pleased to confirm we will continue to partner with Barnardo’s throughout 2013.”
In a bid to raise £5,400 for our charity partner Barnardo’s we have unveiled a unique brick wall fundraiser!
We have invited our suppliers to play their part – in return for a minimum donation of £100 they will receive a personalised brick on our wall. As you will see from the photo the wall is filling up quickly with different company logos and our overall aim is for all 54 bricks to be snapped up!
The wall will take pride of place at our Head Office reception in Coventry.
Well done to our staff, suppliers and customers who took part in this year’s Tour de Jewson, raising an amazing £30,000 for our ‘together’ charity partner Barnardo’s. The tour took two weeks with our intrepid cyclists covering 2500 miles – the last group reached John O’Groats on 22nd September.
We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved and we’d like to thank everyone – cyclists, sponsors, the support team and all those that donated! Barnardo’s is a truly worthwhile cause and we’re still receiving donations so hopefully our final figure will exceed £30,000 – we’ll keep you posted!
On Thursday 30th August, Barnardo’s hosted its annual 7-a-side football tournament for their charity partners. Here at Jewson, we jumped at the chance to enter a team and were joined by 17 other companies who did likewise.
Our congratulations go to Heatrae Sadia, who were crowned the overall winners, after a nail-biting penalty shoot out against the Jewson team.
Special mentions were given to James Taylor from Jewson who was awarded Player of the Tournament as well as Kuldeep Kandola from Jewson and Ricky Uppal from Baxi who were joint Top Goal Scorers. Well done guys!
It was a fantastic event enjoyed by all the budding footballers who took part and more importantly we helped to raise £3,800 for the charity.
We’re getting ready for our biggest charity event – the Tour de Jewson cycling marathon (10th – 22nd September). Once again our staff, customers and suppliers will come together to cycle a staggering 2500 miles across the UK, in aid of our ‘together’ charity partner Barnardo’s.
Following on from the success of the 2010 and 2011 Tour de Jewson, which raised over £40,000, we’re hoping to reach over £20,000 this year.
Barnardo’s is committed to working with the most disadvantaged, vulnerable and neglected children in the UK believing that children deserve the best start in life regardless of their circumstances, race, gender or disability.

A team of 10, consisting of both Category and Procurement Managers, have just completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of our charity partner Barnardo’s.
The team were joined by Peter Hindle MBE and collectively they trekked over 25 miles and a total ascent of 6000ft raising £13,975 along the way.
A big thank you to our suppliers and everyone who donated and helped us raise money for such a worthy cause!
Our HBM Category and Procurement team are preparing to take part in the gruelling Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on May 12th to raise money for our ‘together’ charity partner Barnardo’s.
So far 10 staff members have signed up to take part in the challenge, including Senior Directors! The challenge will take place over 25 miles and will need to be completed in less than 12 hours, covering a total ascent of 6000ft – so no easy task.

We all like a good knees-up but when staff from our 12 North Yorkshire Branches got together for the annual Jewson Area Awards night, they also managed to raise an impressive £1,148 for our ‘Together’ charity Barnardo’s.
More than 120 staff and their partners from our Whitby, Scarborough, Pickering, Malton, Bridlington, Driffield, York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Ripon, Harrogate and Wetherby branches took to the dance floor at the event, which was held at the Flamingoland Theme Park and Zoo. Everyone certainly enjoyed the entertainment from stand up comedian Bobby Bender, while Scarborough-based punk cover band, Snatch, kept everyone rocking till late.
The Area Awards, which were presented by Area Director Martin Coates, are a great chance to say thank you to everyone for their hard work over the last 12 months.
Over 500 of our staff, customers and suppliers came together on the 24th November for a Winter Gala Dinner to celebrate Jewson’s landmark 175th anniversary. Not only that, but with the help of a few famous faces, we managed to raise £35,000 for our ‘together’ charity partner Barnardo’s!
It was a fantastic night and great to see so many of you there celebrating with us. Gloucester Rugby supported the event with Head Coach Bryan Redpath and players Mike Tindall and Luke Narraway attending on the night. During the evening the group helped us to raise funds for Barnardo’s by auctioning off exclusive prizes donated by Gloucester Rugby.
Our thanks go to everyone for their wonderful generosity on the night and to those who have donated throughout this year. We have raised over £140,000 to date since the partnership started in May!
