So do your bit – come and get your van washed, grab a bacon sandwich and take a look at some of the great offers in our Northampton Trade Week!

This trade week proved to be a massive success and the charity day raised a whopping £583 for Barnardo’s. Well Done to all involved.
The use of cabins and summerhouses in gardens in the UK is a trend that is definitely here to stay. With unpredictable summer weather and the need to try and maximise as much space as we can at home – they’re a firm favourite and well worth talking to your customers about.
One of the reasons why they’ve proved so popular is that cabins and summerhouses are just so versatile. They can be used as an office, games room, gym, play area for the kids or simply somewhere to shelter from the bad weather in the middle of a BBQ!
The good news is that we’ve got a wide range of timber cabins and summerhouses to suit. From the Marsden Cabin, Baltic Chalet, the Kestrel, the Chatsworth, Arley and Eaton Cabins – there’s a diverse range to choose from.
Gary is surprised at how many Jewson people he has already spoken to without spending any money.
We’re advancing at a rate of knots on our Self Build journey. After much searching we bought the property and have started the somewhat scary yet strangely exhilarating process of knocking it to bits. Walls are out, chimneys are down, plaster is off, floorboards are gone and what once looked like a house has been stripped back to its Edwardian skeletal frame.
However, my initial anticipation is slowly being replaced by a feeling of confidence that we can get this done. And get it done on time and to budget. The Jewson Self Build Team have been magnificent. Like a well oiled machine they’ve rumbled into life with help, advice and access to our very own trade account.
In fact we must have been in touch with at least a dozen people from Jewson who have helped in playing a role in getting us to where we are now. We now have our very own Jewson branch where we can get technical advice on every aspect of the build; a set of CAD drawings showing us how our kitchens and bathrooms will look and access to all of the materials that we need to turn our dream into reality.
In fact the only thing that we haven’t done yet is to spend any money with Jewson. Now that’s what I call service.
Due to the ever rising costs involved with moving house, we’ve seen an increasing number of homeowners choosing to make improvements to their existing home instead – and it’s of no surprise that a new kitchen is high on the list of must haves!
Hidden handles – To achieve the ultimate minimal look, a handle-less door design is the way to go. Options include either a push-touch release catch, or handles hidden in concealed grooves on the edges of drawers and doors.
Easy working – A horseshoe-shaped layout in an open-plan room acts rather like a cook’s workstation, keeping everything within easy reach for preparing food.
Varying levels – Combine units that vary in height so each is at the optimum level for any given task.
Modern – Combine white gloss doors with chunky worktops for a stylish modern look.
Glossy – Soft edges and rounded corners are sweeping into kitchens as an alternative to the trend for sharp angular lines. Choose a high-gloss material and a curvy kitchen tap to highlight the round shapes.
Monochrome – Opt for a simple black-and-white colour scheme to achieve a clean look and feel. Team glossy white units with smart black tiles and a black worktop for an elegant and sophisticated feel.

We recently hosted a crime prevention day at our branch in Louth, giving customers the opportunity to gain information on van and workshop security. Police Community Support Officer Dean Warrilow and his colleague from the Lincolnshire Police were on hand offering advice to customers on how to protect their tools and vans from theft.
As well as picking up detailed advice on how to become more aware of theft within the industry, customers were issued with free SmartWater packs and ‘Thieves Beware – Smart Water On Site’ signs for their work places.
The day proved to be a real success, with over 30 customers taking the time to talk to the police.
