Recognising Remarkable Residents

We were extremely proud to sponsor the recent Making a Difference Awards 2014. It’s an annual event organised by Wales & West Housing (WWH) which recognises the strength, selflessness and community spirit of its residents.

The ceremony took place on the 10th October and was attended by over 200 people, including WWH residents from across Wales. There, Denbighshire resident Ryan Hassett scooped the Special Inspiration Award, which was sponsored by Jewson.

Ryan, who lives in Rhyl, has faced a difficult upbringing after losing his dad at an early age and helping to support his mum who battled a drug addiction at the time.

Despite the pain he faced in his family life, Ryan flourished and excelled in football. He studied for his GSCEs receiving grade A’s and went on to succeed in his A Levels as well, Ryan then enrolled at Liverpool University on a Sports Science course to be close enough to still support his mum.

Needless to say, the communities in which we work are really important to us at Jewson. That’s why we’re honored to support these awards. Ryan is an inspirational young individual who thoroughly deserves this recognition.
