Jewson customers take a gamble to help charity

Our Flitwick branch recently held a casino night for customers to raise funds for our ‘together’ charity partnership. Over 70 people came to the evening event, which raised £500 for Help the Hospices, the leading charity supporting hospice care in the UK.

Held at the Ampthill Rugby Club, the guests enjoyed a casino, disco, food and drink. The £500 was raised by bidding for a number of prizes including a round of golf at the Belfry, a Gloucester Rugby shirt and two VIP tickets to a Gloucester Rugby game.

Mike Palfreman, Director of Fundraising at Help the Hospices, said, “Most hospices are small charities rooted in the communities they serve, and provide their services free of charge to patients and their families – but hospice care is not free to provide. The money that Jewson has raised will add to the precious funds that allow local hospices to care for more than 170,000 adults and children with terminal and life-limiting illnesses each year, as well as their friends and families.”
