Jewson lends a hand to DIY SOS

Our branches in Durham have recently donated £2,000 worth of materials to the BBC’s hit TV programme DIY SOS, to provide a new single storey extension to a family in Houghton-Le-Spring

June and John Finlay were just entering their retirement years when June was tragically struck down with a very rare disease known as CLIPPERS, leaving her suddenly paralysed and trapped in her own home. As June was living on a hospital bed in their open plan kitchen and dining room, DIY SOS stepped in to transform the house, building a single storey extension including a bedroom and wet room with easy access to the garden – allowing June to move around her home a little more comfortably.

The programme’s production team approached our branches for support and we were happy to donate blocks to build the new side extension, insulation for the loft and extension, as well as treated timber and sleepers for the garden.
