Work Experience for Prince’s Trust Apprentices

In support of The Prince’s Trust Get into Construction programme, we recently teamed up with our friends at Novus Property Solutions, the new name of local property maintenance specialist Seddon Property Services, to organise work experience for unemployed trainees in the Stoke area.

Twelve trainees, aged between 18 and 25, took part, gaining experience and training in a wide range of areas such as painting and decorating, joinery and maintenance as well as working on a real-life maintenance and painting project.

Nathan Gidman did his training at the Jewson branch in Hanley and said:

“It was a great opportunity. The Jewson team made me feel really welcome and I was able to work on the counter dealing with customers as well as out in the timber yard helping trade professionals select the materials they needed.  The experience gave me a really good insight into what it’s like to work for a builders’ merchant.”
