Open Day in Birkenhead

Our Birkenhead branch was a hotbed of activity last week, when we held an open day for local building professionals. With competitions and raffles running all day, the event raised £340 for children’s charity Barnardo’s – as well as giving visitors the chance to find out more about sustainable products and building practices.

More than 190 builders, contractors, self-builders and DIYers attended on the day, where they received advice and help about meeting requirements under the Code for Sustainable Homes and the Building Regulations.

One of our customers who attended the event was Gary Sherlock from North West Construction, who said: “We’ve always had a good relationship with Jewson as we buy a lot of stock here, so it’s nice to come down and meet the suppliers and ask a few questions. The solar power seminar was also of interest to us, as that’s a market we’re getting into. Sustainability is becoming more and more important, and customers are increasingly asking to see green credentials, so events like today are very useful.”

Competitions were held throughout the day, with a top prize of £175 of Love2Shop vouchers and account credits – a celebration of the fact that we are in our 175th year in the industry.
